Introduction

Saltillo, the capital of the border state of Coahuila, is a popular weekend getaway for residents of Monterrey thanks to its proximity (less than an hour away) and cooler temperatures. Settlers were originally attracted to this corner of the Chihuahua Desert by a small spring, a little salto de agua or saltillo.
