Zihuatanejo

Introduction

This slice of Pacific coastline remained “undiscovered” until recently, even though it lies just 150 miles northwest of Acapulco. Long overshadowed by that famed resort, Zihuatanejo, a lovely seaside village on Zihuatanejo Bay, was known only to locals and a few hardy travelers until a paved highway connected the two ports. Increasing numbers of tourists, foreign as well as Mexican, were drawn to the tranquility and seclusion of the charming village, its natural beauty, superb beaches and excellent fishing.

Zihuatanejo has picked up its pace but remains a charming little town on a beautiful bay. Fishermen still bring their daily catch to the town dock in the mornings, the produce market still bustles with activity, and the local boys still play soccer on the beach at sunset.
