Introduction
Beginning in northern Banderas Bay and stretching upwards towards San Blas, the Riviera Nayarit is home to approximately 20 different destinations, each with a character all its own.
At its modern southern end, full grown Nuevo Vallarta is the resort that has it all, from championship golf courses to world-class spas. At its historic northern tip is laid back San Blas, once so renowned that in 1882 poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was inspired to write an 11 stanza tribute called “The Bells of San Blas” even though he had never actually been there; the former colonial era port is now a popular bird-watching destination. In between, there are exclusive upscale resorts and bohemian beach retreats.
So whether you prefer your sunsets from a hillside villa, with a flute of chilled champagne and a bowl of chocolate-covered strawberries, or from a palm-thatched hut by the water’s edge, with an ice cold beer and a plate of melted cheese quesadillas, the Riviera Nayarit has what you’re looking for.
